BUYING A CAR

• Ask for the original registration document.
• Is the seller the same as the person named on the registration document?
• Do the engine and chassis numbers match those on the registration document?
• Check that other details on the registration document, such as mileage, match what you seen on the vehicles.
• Make sure the vehicles has been paid off and there is no outstanding finance owing.
  
• Test drive it yourself to make sure it fits your needs.

 SELLING A CAR

• Never allow a prospective buyer to test drive it alone.
• Don't accept the keys to the car the buyer arrived in as security.
  
• If you do allow a buyer to take a test drive, then make sure you are insured.
