PROPERTY

RENTING
  • Don't agree to rent without a full and legally binding agreement between you and the landlord or accommodation agency.
  • Verify the landlord's identity before you hand over the money and make sure he owns the property.  Ask to see personal ID such as a previous rent book. 
SELLING
  • Compare with other properties on the market in your area, taking into account repairs or necessary work.
  • Be upfront about work you have done to your property.
  • Only show people round who have made an appointment.
BUYING
  • Make a checklist of information about the property.
  • Ask about the seller's position in the property chain - can they move out reasonably quickly?
